Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen dismissed concerns of “sticker shock” at grocery stores in an interview with Yahoo Finance Monday.
When asked if she visits the grocery store, Yellen answered “I go every week.”
It’s quite the sticker shock, isn’t it?” reporter Jennifer Schonberger asked.
No,” Yellen answered.
Should the U.S. invest in agriculture to boost the food supply in this country?” Schonberger questioned.
I think largely it reflects cost increases, including labor cost increases that grocery firms have experienced, although there may be some increases in margins,” Yellen responded.
