A federal judge has ruled that Gwynn Wilcox be reinstated to the National Labor Relations Board, following her firing from the five-member panel that oversees labor disputes.
Wilcox was fired by President Donald Trump in late January, but Senior Judge Beryl Howell, of U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C., called the move “a blatant violation of the law,” in a decision handed down Thursday, according to NBC News.
“An American President is not a king—not even an ‘elected’ one—and his power to remove federal officers and honest civil servants like plaintiff is not absolute, but may be constrained in appropriate circumstances, as are present here,” Howell wrote in the decision.
