Fellow union members,

Thanksgiving for many is a time to slow down, break bread, and cherish time with loved ones.
For most of our UFCW Local 99 union members, however, Thanksgiving looks very different.

Whether you work in retail grocery, food processing, healthcare, cannabis, or any essential industry, the holiday season is often one of the busiest and most demanding times of the year. And it’s your hard work each year that makes Thanksgiving happen.

During the recent federal government shutdown which paused essential food assistance benefits for over 42 million Americans, UFCW reminded our elected leaders that even when our own government stops providing essential services, our UFCW members don’t stop providing essential service.

No matter the obstacles in front of us, be it a political crisis or a tough contract fight, we will never hesitate to remind those in power who truly keep our communities running.

Thanks for all you do.

In solidarity,

James J. McLaughlin
President, UFCW Local 99
