The Fred Meyer grocery chain has reached a tentative four-year contract agreement with warehouse workers, avoiding a potential strike.
Teamsters Local 117 said in a news release Friday the agreement covers 500 workers. During contract negotiations, the company’s Washington-based workers voted unanimously to authorize a strike while the two sides were at odds over Covid-related safety issues. Workers had demanded the right to refuse tasks that would put them or the public at risk contracting Covid-19.
