Workers at Kroger stores across Central Indiana, including Bloomington, have rejected a second tentative contract agreement negotiated between the company and United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 700.

The union confirmed Thursday that its members voted down the proposed agreement, which follows an earlier rejection and strike authorization in June. The latest vote does not automatically trigger a strike, and union leaders say negotiations will continue.

“This does not mean a strike is imminent,” said Evan Robbins, Director of Communications for UFCW Local 700. “We are continuing to bargain with the company to reach a deal that is acceptable to membership. We will meet with Kroger again tomorrow.”
