The Albertsons Companies, Inc. has announced a CEO succession plan that will place Susan Morris, now EVP and chief operations officer, in the role of CEO following the retirement of current CEO Vivek Sankaran.
Sankaran’s retirement is effective May 1, according to a press release. Between now and then Morris will work closely with Sankaran to continue execution of the company’s Customers for Life Strategy. Morris will also become part of the company’s board.
“Over the past several years, the Board has engaged in a thoughtful and comprehensive succession planning process to identify Albertsons Cos.’ next CEO, including evaluating internal and external candidates.
