Last week’s critical two-day bargaining session with Albertsons/Vons concluded without the progress our members expect and deserve. While we continue to advocate for meaningful improvements, the company’s updated wage proposal does not reflect the real needs of grocery workers in Southern California.
We are aiming to address serious concerns around fair pay, staffing, and work-life balance — issues which directly impact our members’ quality of life. Despite our efforts, the company declined to engage on many of these core matters.
We are also continuing to document and challenge unfair labor practices, including interference with union activity and improper conduct during workplace actions. These actions not only hinder negotiations but also undermine the rights of workers protected under federal law.
As we prepare for the next bargaining dates on June 10 and 11, it’s essential every member participates in the upcoming Unfair Labor Practice (ULP) strike authorization votes. Meeting locations have also been posted in store breakrooms and sent to members via text alert and email. Your voice and vote will help show the strength behind our message: grocery workers deserve respect, recognition, and a fair contract.
