As our hot summer hopefully winds down soon and the holiday season approaches, one priority must stay front and center: preparing for our master food contract negotiations in March. The time to get ready is now.

We may work in different industries — from grocery stores and food processing plants to cannabis shops, health care facilities, legal aid nonprofits and even museums — but we are one union. And when we stand together, we win together.

Our union’s negotiating team will fight for a strong agreement that grocery workers can be proud to ratify. But our strength at the bargaining table depends on the solidarity we show in our workplaces and communities. Here’s how you can help build that strength.

Support Your Union and Each Other

Speak up. Show your support for the union in your workplace — not just to your co-workers, but to management. Let them know you believe in the power of collective action and that you expect a contract that respects your labor and rewards your dedication.
Listen to each other, be open to communication and support each other and your union in word and deed.
Managers take note of employee sentiment. When they report strong union support up the chain, it sends a powerful message that helps our negotiators push for better terms.

Shop Where You Work

Every dollar spent at a union shop supports union jobs, boosts hours for members and strengthens our benefit plans. It also gives our union more leverage to negotiate fair contracts. Shopping union isn’t just smart — it’s solidarity in action.

Be a Good Neighbor

Get to know your co-workers and neighbors. Talk to them about your workplace and why union jobs matter. When people understand the value of union labor, they’re more likely to support it — by shopping union and standing with us.

Don’t Feed the Rumor Mill

Rumors can divide us, especially in the age of social media. False information spreads fast and can weaken our unity. If you hear something about negotiations that doesn’t come from a trusted union source, don’t repeat it. Call your union rep and get the facts.
Your representative is your go-to for updates and answers. Stay informed, stay united and help others do the same.

Together, We Prevail

Solidarity isn’t just a slogan — it’s our strategy. By standing strong, speaking up, and supporting each other, we can win a fair and equitable contract for all.

Stay strong. Stay united. Let’s show what union power looks like.
